Glenn Duxbury’s unique skillset is so rare, it’s almost like a Unicorn!

Glenn’s many past clients most likely only know one or two things about him, however he has numerous talents and has helped a variety of others in a wide range of situations.

This unique skillset is uncommon as most professionals are experts in just one or two of these fields. The fact that Glenn combines it all is extremely rare to see. Almost like finding a unicorn!

Advocacy

On one occasion, Glenn helped an employee in a manufacturing work environment in Metro Vancouver.  A large, steel tank on the outside of this plant was filled with their water-sensitive product.  Over many years, its metal top had begun to corrode and rust, which was unseen to most working there, but this individual was extremely concerned about that tank allowing water to enter. The employee voiced concerns to address the ongoing rusting and eventual failure, but he was being ignored. He then realized he could arrange payment, if only someone could document this situation in writing. Then, he could put the issue in front of the decision-makers upstairs to make things happen.

Glenn was able to provide exactly what the employee needed. Glenn authored a thorough report, documenting the clear and obvious issues that the employee had noticed and before long, it was presented to the people in charge who were able to see just how serious the situation was. On top of this, the employee felt validated that his concerns were justified.

Construction Litigation

Home Inspection for ConstructionRecently, Glenn was referred to check out a new agricultural building in the Fraser Valley with lots of defects, as well as a persistent leaking roof. While the latter was already being documented, the roofing consultant had hinted at other issues pertaining to this building. It was clear that an additional professional was needed, as it appeared these matters would become a legal issue.

With no hesitancy at all, Glenn was able to say Yes, simply due to his many years assisting lawyers and their clients. There was no fear of facing a judge or the opposing lawyer in court.

Numerous other times, lawyers have been searching for such an expert, to not only help document a particular situation, most often pertaining to the “built environment”, but also to render all the particulars into a factual and hard-hitting expert report, which will be accepted and recognized by the courts.

Warranty Checks – Peace of Mind

Numerous times, Glenn, has been contacted regarding warranty coverage nearing its expiry date (often by nervous property managers, but also individual homeowners, who had purchased brand-new homes in the past two to four years).

This service involves expert knowledge as to exactly what may be or may not be claimed (nothing simply cosmetic or annoying). Glenn is then able to once again render all the on-site data collected into another type of hard-hitting report, which is needed to really get results the client is needing. Often, his role is to calmly explain that not all apparent defects can be claimed and to find out what it will take to lessen their anxiety.

Commercial Inspections – Out of Town

Going the distance” for his thousands of past clients is something Glenn has always been happy to do, however he has also been hired to check out non-residential (commercial) properties, well away on the Island, in Merritt and Pemberton and also over to Revelstoke and Castlegar, when needed. This of course involves complex travel plans and accommodation arrangements. Some of Glenn’s construction-litigation projects have been in neighbouring provinces, as well.

Quality Assurance – Construction/Renovation

Quality assurance is something Glenn has been doing for decades. This applies to new construction, renovation work and the like. This can also be applied to mechanical insulation being installed on piping and ductwork in buildings, which is a special skill he has been trained and accepted for, as one of only three such inspectors in B.C. (something additional many of Glenn’s past clients may not know about).

A Quality Assurance Observer is recognized as someone who knows how the work should turn out, with the inspector’s eventual confirmation as to whether the work meets that standard or not.
