Quick Tip
Glenn DuxburyAlways prune your trees and shrubs away from your house. They will hold water and transfer it to your exterior walls, roof and foundation which could lead to leakages. Also keep an eye on tree roots which can damage foundations.

Greetings!

Welcome to “Love Your Home”

Many renovation experiences are happy ones – despite the stress. But don’t assume things are going according to plan just because you seem to have a sound contract and good rapport with your renovator. Last month we looked at the hiring stage and 13 questions that you must ask your potential contractor. We continue with how to handle problems and safety as the project takes place.

Each month I share my experiences of home inspections through case studies, strata tips, what to look for, and preventative maintenance to save you the buyer, seller, homeowner or property manager, time and money.

Help me, help you! I have put together a short 4-Question Survey which will only take a couple minutes.  Please click here to take it now. Thank you to those those who have taken it for your time and input. Last chance as we will be tabulating the results next week.
Please help us, help you!
Sincerely, Glenn

Inspect as Your Renovation Goes…

Stay on top of your project to prevent minor errors from becoming major problems in the first place. If you have a disagreement, try to be reasonable. Go over the contract and listen carefully to the renovator’s explanations. If you’re still not satisfied, get a second opinion from a professional Home  Inspector or Architect to back-up your position and document same if needed.

How to Handle Problems with Your RenovatorWhat if you’re not happy with the job? First, try to negotiate a solution. If that fails, send them a registered letter setting out your objections. Check out two letters you can write and where to send them.

Testimonials: “…appreciate the quality…

I very much appreciate the quality of your assessment, the detail you’ve provided and all the critical information you’ve shared with me! I will certainly keep your name and contact info on-hand and call you once again – when it is time for the ‘next’.” ~ S. Cowan”

View more Inspection PhotosThis badly-neglected Boiler is leaking and rusting out the cabinet. Lack of maintenance on heating appliances allows for operating efficiency to drop, the likelihood of outright failure to greatly increase and household comfort to be affected. This can be serious over the winter months.

It’s wise to have your heating system inspected! View more inspection photos

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes. We carry the appropriate Errors and Omissions Insurance..
