Good at Saving Water ?

We’ve all heard news of the long drought facing California to the south of us and even have experienced a very much different spring /summer than we are used to here in western Canada.  With all of the news out there about how we are facing a water-shortage, which we are certainly not used to we thought we might take a moment to research how all of us can pitch in to conserve whatever we can.  Here are a few suggestions for you:
• When washing your hands, turn the water off while you lather-up (same in the shower)
• Forgo purchasing water bottles and instead invest in water bottles you can re-fill with tap water
• Use a broom and some elbow grease instead of pressure-washing your outdoor areas
• Purchase water-efficient appliances and toilets for your home
• Water your lawn early in the morning to minimize evaporation (currently only 1 time each week)
• Aerate your lawn regularly so that water can reach the roots rather than just run off the surface
• Fix any leaky faucets or run-on toilets in your home
• Invest in a rain-barrel for garden-watering

If we don’t conserve what we have, what will we NOT have to enjoy in the future ?
